Looking for a safe, fun and easy way to teach your child early literacy and computer skills?
The library now offers three early literacy computers targeted for children ages 2 through 10, generously donated by the Westerville Library Foundation. These computers include more than forty-five educational games spanning seven curricular areas, including language, math, arts, science and more. One of the computers is a Bilingual Spanish Edition, offering sixty-two games in English and Spanish.
Kids are captivated by the interface and start to explore immediately. The computers have color-coded keys, a small mouse, engaging graphics and a variety of interactive tools. Children can see and hear what programs are available by moving the mouse over the different icons on the desktop.
Designed with kids in mind, there is usually little to no adult intervention required. Kids can simply put on the headphones, move the mouse and decide what to do next.
You will find the Early Literacy Computers in the Youth Services Department of the library. These computers are available on a first come basis. No reservation is required. Please note that these stations do not offer Internet access.
